Featured Artist – Simon Read
Seascape and Landscape Artist
Simon Read’s work is about capturing the essence of places and being in the moment. He has moved from West Dorset’s Jurassic Coast where he painted for many years to the ruggedness of Pembrokeshire. Simon’s paintings continue to reflect the power, energy and force within nature; the foam and surge of waves in a storm; churning waters reflected in a lowering sky and menacing clouds; the endurance of stone and the unpredictability of the sea. It’s as if these paintings are there – in part – to remind the viewer that nature is so much bigger than we are. Other subjects are gentler, long sandy beaches, the calm after the storm; sea mists rising on a still day; inky water speckled in moonlight; elemental sunsets all endeavouring to portray the rugged natural beauty of Pembrokeshire.
Simon is a seascape and landscape artist. He moved from West Dorset’s Jurassic Coast where he painted for many years to the ruggedness of North Pembrokeshire.
